Meet the team

You may have heard that Devon Education Services has changed, but there’s no need to panic!

The English Team you know, trust and have worked with for many years is still here…

We are now working as independent English consultants. We are sole traders; however, we work closely together as a team to share expertise and develop materials and training - continuing to provide essential English and literacy support for schools across the South West and further afield.

  • Rebecca Cosgrave Literacy Consultant from The English Team

    Rebecca Cosgrave

Rebecca has over 30 years’ experience in English education and still brings the same passion and energy to her work. She’s driven by a belief that every child deserves the chance to read and write: it’s the key to opportunity. Her career spans class teaching, SENCO, senior leadership, consultancy, and advisory roles.

Until recently, she led the Primary English team at Devon Education Services. Rebecca is also a seasoned writing moderator, LA moderation manager, and a member of STA’s reference group.

  • Jenny Core Literacy Consultant from The English Team

    Jenny Core

Jenny’s career reflects her love of literature and languages. She began teaching abroad, embracing diverse cultures. She enjoys tussling with grammar and it fascinates her that the word for lion in Mongolian is Aslan!

She is an experienced primary teacher and English Leader, co-authoring publications in her roles as an English Adviser and former Primary Languages Adviser. Jenny led English for Devon Primary SCITT and supported ECTs as a Visiting Fellow with Ambition Institute. As a KS2 STA-accredited Lead Moderator, she continues to champion high standards.

Jenny delights in sharing the rich world of children’s books with both children and teachers.

  • Alsion Braddon Literacy Consultant from The English Team

    Alison Braddon

Alison is a passionate educator with over 20 years’ experience across Early Years, KS1 and KS2.

A lifelong learner and trained teacher trainer, she specialises in English interventions and delights in helping struggling readers discover the joy of books.

As an English adviser, she’s dedicated to delivering high-quality professional development, equipping teachers with effective strategies to engage learners.

Whether planning lessons, mentoring colleagues, or enjoying a good book, Alison brings curiosity, creativity and heart to everything she does—believing every day is a chance to spark inspiration and make learning joyful.

  • Rebecca New Literacy Consultant from The English Team

    Rebecca New

A librarian’s daughter, Rebecca grew up surrounded by stories—and never stopped championing the transformative power of language.

With degrees in Literature & Creative Writing and MA Education, she’s taught primary and KS3, working as Assistant Head, Head of English & Drama, with Literacy, Assessment and Art Lead roles. She brings deep expertise to consultancy, having worked as a Devon English Adviser, Somerset Advanced Skills Teacher, B&NES Leading Literacy Teacher and Visiting Fellow with Ambition Institute’s NPQLL.

Rebecca has a particular passion for picture books, folk tales and poetry …and she still checks the backs of wardrobes for snow. Just in case.
